Most of us have heard plenty of news and warnings about identity theft and so we take many precautions to avoid having ourselves fall victim to this painful and hard to fix crime. We will be very careful about our wallets and very careful about disposing of documents. We will make sure we are on a trusted site when exchanging valuable information and we will avoid clicking on links in questionable emails. These are all formidable steps but they avoid one fact. The bad guys are very innovative and for the efforts that go into computer security they find remarkable ways to do harm. One such way is gaining control of your system and when they do this you can’t trust any input. This is why antivirus software is so important and it is so important to keep this software updated. By preventing viruses from getting on your computer not only are you protecting your files but you are also protecting bad guys from taking control of your computer and compromising your sensitive information.
